1998 KX250 engine cases ok to mismatch?

Ok.....I'm new on here but I am building a 1998 KX250 for a friends son from the ground up.  The right engine case was damaged and I found a right from a 1999 bike at salvage yard in good condition and now I am concerned with some of the research I have done that using the 98 left and the 99 right (although they show the part numbers are correct and same) could cause an issue due to the matching/line boring when new, etc.  This project is definitely on a budget but I don't want to create a problem by doing this.  Is there any definitive "don't do this" advice that this will be a problem.  From what I can find it looks like there are opinions pointing both directions on this and thought I would ask some that I know are more familiar with something like this than I am-

They should have interchanged with no problems.

What if it’s a 99 left side case with 98 right side case. Just found out my right side is cracked! Is it possible when splitting the case it can crack?

If you have the correct tools no risk of cracking cases! If you are not confident or do not want to invest in the tools I would pass the job on to a pro, sometimes it is easier to stick to what you know and earn your cash in the job you do day to day, you miss one washer on a reinstall and you have to do it all over again where as if a pro messes up you take it back!
