2004 kx250 intake ports blocked by cylinder base gasket

so I'm just finishing up on rebuilding my kx250. And after installing the cylinder I noticed when looking into the intake from where the reeds are supposed to be the base gasket blocks the three bottom intake ports that feed into the lower part of the cylinder. Thinking I had received the wrong gasket I bought a new one. But I seems like the new gasket will do the same thing.  When I finish up with work tomorrow I'll pull the cylinder and have a look.

Lol so I guess my question is if anyone's ran into that problem before, this bike is new to me and it's my first time building it

Hopefully I will be working on my 2004 this weekend.  If I think about it, I'll try to take pictures of mine.  Here is a pic of the 03 250 that came out of Goliath, but you can't see if that is gasket in the holes or not.
