250f rebuild after piston hit valves - check bearing? replace bottom end?

(1/2) > >>

tonysoup:
Hey Guys im rebuiding my 250f 2009

the bottom end looks reasonably good but the main bearing on the crank case (clutch side) does not spin freely if i spin it with my finger ***it moves freely under the power of my finger but does not continue to spin freely for more than a second after i stop spining it ( if that paints a propper picture) . Is the main bearing Naturally a bit tighter being that it subjected to more load? or do you think it has sustained damage from the piston/valve impact - the piston hit the valves hard enough to crack the bore if that helps with the assesment.

cheers  this is my first dirt bike rebuild im in  in no rush

As long as it is not rough spinning or wiggly loose.  I would start the clock fresh with new ones while it is apart.

tonysoup:
It feels perfect, smooth and no play but doesnt free spin.

I know new parts is the best insurance... just another 6 - $700 (AUD) I may aswell do a full bottom rebuild. Just not certain if it really needs it

The crank end play is only just juuuust noticable

alward25:
if they have any oil in them they will not free spin and if they are not worn out they should not free spin too, they sound good.  Hard to tell this far away.

I know its hard to really tell but any input is appreciated cheers guys!
