YZX500 Motard!

This should be a good one. Another steel frame that handles good.  A YZ250 frame may be a great place for my extra motor. Can't wait to see how easy or hard the engine fits.

I considered this, as it would allow me to have 2 complete bikes ready to rip! take a friend, teach the gf maybe! It is the best solution I agree with you, except for one thing- my yz250 is street legal in california, a rarity. And id like to have the 500 power in my street legal frame since its on the street not really offroad that the 250 feels underpowered. I have heard people say the yz isnt the best geometry, so an af is best, but heck I have a lot to learn before I can use it for all its worth.

I live in huntington beach, how about you motorrad? your bike looks incredible, thanks for sharing that photo with us. I will be creeping on your posts to find out all about it! That pipe looks great, am I correct in assuming that it is designed for high speed, mid/high rpm cruising, with less focus on low rpm torque? Sounds right up my alley. I don't have a pipe for the 500 yet and it is one of those  "what am I going to do" questions I haven't yet answered. Im open to suggestions! Ive read that most 500 pipes arent 'fat' enough, so I was thinking of getting a cheap oem unit off ebay, cutting it up and welding in a fatter midsection, then altering the back side to line up with the factory silencer location. I own a welder and have skills 'good enough' to use it, so it would only cost me my time. Any input with regards to this issue is appreciated.

Im hoping its a pretty easy fit as well, cant wait to get the motor and find out. Tracking says its in utah! Im not so concerned about the frame, it has a nice split in the 'front downtube' (please correct if it has a more accurate name) for the exhaust to come out of the cylinder. I will need to drill the swingarm bolt to the yz's 17mm which I am also not worried about, and then see if I have to remove material/shim it to align the sprockets. Im a little OCD about that so I hope I get happy with the results. I have a 3.2 gallon acerbis tank that goes so low, it hardly lets me reach the choke (good thing my bike doesnt need it to start) and it surrounds the cylinder pretty tightly. I hope that I will still be able to use it, as Ive heard these 500's really go through gas!

One question I had is with this larger motor, will it be very beneficial to put in a hydraulic clutch? I dont have weak fingers, but its not that pricey.

But first, I need new bars and a visit to the chiropractor after last weekends camping trip to Slash X cafe near barstow. No more night time mobbing until I get a brighter headlight

Happy riding everyone, dont eat too much candy today!
