white crust on flywheel?

I also spray a good corrosion preventative lube in there because condensation can get in a fester, even with a good gasket. I use Amsoil metal protector. I would not use WD-40, but is better than nothing. Why not WD-40? As much of a miracle lube it is, it is fish oil based and I have seen corrosion start underneath a film of it.

Foxx says that he heard WD-40 also has some abrasives in it for cleaning.

On most two strokes there is a small hole between the bottom case halves that allows the flywheel side to vent. Water gets into the flywheel area from the vent hole. I know Yamaha and Suzuki have these vent holes on their 250's. They are often mistaken for a casting defect but they are supposed to be there. Never noticed if my 500 has this design?

i got a couple pics and uploaded them to photobucket and now twice ive tried to put them both in the same reply and froze me up on the screen. so i might try laater. but when i had her open i popped the flywheel off and the stator and low and behold down in the very bottom of the cases cavity for the flywheel there was just a little bit of water., im going to have to investigate where its coming from. corrosion isnt good on any parts as far as see it., although i did wd-40 (actually used pb boltbreaker) because the can was closer and polished it up right nice . wiped what little water that was in there out. and used the permatex clear silicone around the top of where the rubber grommet shields the wiring from the cover as it comes through the flywheel cover. thought maybe the water may be getting in through there. ill find out. doesnt affect the performance any. it would after time and neglecting it . but thats not going to happen. also dont real;ly have anything to do with this but every time i log in here i have to refresh the tab and a resend or cancel button come on the screen. i hit resend and it opens right up. probably to mush clutter in my pc and need to dousche it with some overpriced service. just wondering if thats only me running into that upon log in here.
