It was definitely a good find, listed in computer parts no less. I'm not sure where he came up with the price, but it worked for me :-o

1. The timing has been advanced to run on race gas, I plan to run 91. I have not looked at the stator plate yet, is there only one mark to line up for OEM timing?

2. Also with the race gas I am sure the jetting is a bit off, luckily the bike came with a just about every pilot, main, needle combo there is. What would be a good base line for 2000ft?

1. There are 3 marks.
Be sure it's in the middle position.

2.  Start at 52-55 pilot, 165-168 main, needle on the middle position, 1.5 turns.
Remember, air temp and engine condition will have a big effect on jetting.
Do throttle chops to dial in your main.

Thanks for the info, I pulled the carb off last night and it had a 168m and 50p. Ill check out what needle and clip position today, I think I'll go with a 52p first. Luckily it came with a brand new br8eg, the one in the bike is a beautiful chocolate milk 8-)

Got my airbox and carb spotless, coolant fushed, ignition retimed, and have been giving the whole bike a good cleaning. Ordered some new reeds, DT-1 air filter, and top end gasket kit. The cylinder and piston look great, only a small amount of carbon on the PV that easily scrapes off with a finger nail.

One question about that though, the center flapper seems unusually loose to me. I can "jiggle" it with my finger back and forth a small amount. Is this the normal play in the pin?

Hopefully my parts get here early in the week so I can race that pesky XR650R :-D

Is that a husky 250 in the background??? :?  Sorry kxriders still got a soft spot in my heart for the 90's huskys  :-D
