Another good reason not to use a Pro-X piston in your KX500

sandblaster:
Any piston can blow under the right conditions.
After seeing many hundreds blown for various reasons there is a reason why I only run the Wossner's in my K5... they just look cool  8-)

umberto:
You're correct about that, even the best pistons can fail.  It just seems that very few people have anything nice to say (and lots of horror stories) about Pro-X pistons.

Foxx4Beaver:
it's rare to see a forged piston shatter....I've only seen it in top fuel dragsters and funnycars...but that's a whole 'nother story and animal.
and that's why I'll never run any form of cast piston.
being able to run tighter tolerances with cast means absolutely nothing in my mind...not when they explode.
there's a reason I only run forged in my KZ, Ski-Doo, and KX's...and that's all I have to say bout that.
for those who prefer cast....my hat's off to ya....hopefully you won't end up like that poor guy.

KevinTwoStk:
I'm on my second Pro-X piston in my KX125. No trouble with the first one, and the second one is holding up just fine. I'd guess I had 80-plus hours on the first piston, which was still within spec when I replaced it.

I try to tip the longevity balance in my favor by running race gas, keeping the air filter serviced, and paying attention to my jetting. Most riders don't need race gas, but I have no confidence in SoCal's pump fuel.

So far so good with Pro-X...at least from me.
