Extracting a broken Extractor
queen of spodes:
Have two broken 6mm bolts in the top and bottom triple clamp. Tried soaking with kroil but couldn't get a hold on the exposed bolt. I have a drill press that can drill a straight hole, so I carefully drilled out the center of both broken bolts without touching the threads. Grabbed an extractor and started to twist one of the bolts out. It cracked before I knew what happened. This is what I get for using cheap Harbor Freight tools.
I left the second broken bolt alone, so it is still hollowed out.
Now I have this, with a broken extractor inside the hole I drilled in the 6mm bold.
Tips for getting the bolt/extractor out?

my first atempt would be to weld a nut on it.

on 6mm size bolt (tiny)? no welder so that's not even an option right now.

Because of the hardness removing broken taps, drill bits and extractors often requires a machinest that has an EDM (Electro Discharge Machine).

That EDM sounds expensive.
I think I will grab a hacksaw and cut that stalk down about 5mm to see if I can grab onto the broken bolt with some pliers. Then I can space out the numberplate with a spacer or washers for that matter.
