Didn't 87 have smaller studs and only need like 15lbft?

my specs told me 18 so thats what i did 1987 kx 250 :|

Problem is that this part is no longer available....

Is it possible to go to the hardware store and get a fully threaded hex bolt and cut it to size?

I can also grind off the threads in the middle and make it look just like the stock ones.

Any particular strength they should be? Or what material?
