sandblaster:
Could you do it?
I don't see why not.
Is it safe?
I'd contact the tire manufacture and ask them.
Foxx4Beaver:
I wouldn't...and I say that because fronts aren't designed for the stress that heavy acceleration will put on them, and the tread pattern won't be made for rear wheel use...there's a reason they make front and rears.
I'm not saying you can't throw one on, and be issue free....there's a chance you'll be just fine. I'm just sayin I wouldn't do it...I'd step-up to plate and get a certified rear...a good one at that!
stujordan:
Anyone aware of a 19 inch street tire that will fit my rear?

not that it really matters, but are you planning on riding "street legal", or doing some illegal street hawkin up and down the road periodically?
I bring this up because, every state is different with their laws...but here in Mass, your bike needs to pass a safety inspection when you register it...and one of the 1st things they check here are tires...for cracks, wear, cuts, certifications...and if they were to catch a certified front on the rear...chances are they'll fail it....unless you're lucky enough to either know someone, or lucky enough to get a guy that'll just tell you to swap it out and come back later, and he'll pass it.
...but if you're just rippin up and down the street for short sprints, being an illegal menace...well, you know where I'm going with this
