arm pump remedies?
reklessj:
So my boy has been getting arm pump really bad at the track only on the trails he's alright. He usually gets it within the first few laps and he has to pull off the track every 7 laps or so. He gets over it after about 3 Hrs on and off the track but by then most the day is gone and hhe's beat from trying to hold on. All tips and advice would be much appreciated, he has been asking me to post this for awhile now. Thanks guys

could be death gripping the bars, which will make it flare up. or not gripping enough with knees and having to control the bike with your arms instead.
but end of the day, putting in the hrs on the bike builds up your resistance to it.

the looser the grip, the better...I had a local expert/champion tell me that back in the 80's...it takes a little getting used to, especially for riders that have always rode with a tight grip, and then try to change to that feeling that the bars could get ripped out of your hands at any time.
he also told me, anyone could've slapped his hands off the bars while riding because he kept such a loose grip.

I was taught by an old VERY GOOD desert racer. if your holding on with more than your thumb and index finger. (think making "okay" sign with hand) your holding on too hard. and you shouldnt be gripping with those fingers either.
