2012 KX250F Took for a swim today

Jlucero:
Hey everybody...I was riding thru a creek today and berried the front tire in mud and went over...sucked water down in the engine through the air box.  Exhaust and gas tank were not submerged.   I thought for a sec the bike just stalled out but after getting out of the water I realized it had water down in the case.  The oil was all milky.  Soooooo, I got a tow back to the truck took out the air filter and sure enough it was soaked.  Went home drained the oil, ran a quart of oil thru it.  Pulled off the gas tank and spark plug.  Water was down in the cylinder so I put oil back in it, kicked it over and spit all (or most) of the water out.  Put a little wd40 down there and reinstalled everything.  Kicked it over and it fired up after about 4 kicks.  It was smoking a little out of the tail pipe and started smoking out of the oil filler with the cap on. I ran it for about 30 seconds and turned it off. The oil is milky again which I expected so I'm in the process of flushing with more oil again.  I haven't changed the oil filter yet as all the shops are closed but will be doing that.  Anyone else go through this? Any suggestions as I don't want to screw up my bike.  Thanks Justin

Motorrad:
would the motor turn over after it died?

Hydrolock is a bad thing

Jlucero:
The motor would kick over but wouldn't start. Update.  After 9 quarts of oil I finally have clean oil coming out. The bike fires right up. As soon as the shop is open I'm goin to get some good oil and new air and oil filter. The bike seems to have some piston slap or valve noise. Hopefully it's because I'm running some gas station oil in it. That was my only option and I didn't want to have that water in the engine until Tuesday. Hopefully all is well with no damage.

Motorrad:
Not sure if that bike has em.

But before you run it any more.   change the oil filter.

enough water in the oil..   swells/collapses the paper type oil filters..   to the point of NOT PASSING ANY OIL.       since you said its knocking.. Id suspect this.

Jlucero:
Ok thanks. After Tuesday when I get a new filter I'll let you know how it goes.
