I've just been assembling my engine and noticed that it has a Hinson clutch basket. So I started having a closer look at things. The primary drive gear is 16mm wide. The teeth on the basket are 12mm wide. Yet they only engaged about 11mm. Seems odd having such a strong primary drive gear and waste that strength by not using iT and also not permitting the clutch basket engage the full width of its teeth. Has anybody else noticed this?

Brooksie... mine is exactly the same way!?!?! im not sure why that is? i have not heard of any issues in regards to it? but yes mine is the same way

Thanks for the update. Strange eh? I did think later that perhaps the power valve or water pump drive might make use of the extra width... But I can't think of a reason why either couldn't be inline with the clutch basket.
