Hello All.
Been lurking on the forum for a few days, decided I should introduce myself. I just picked up an 86 KX500 from a member on this forum (zskunk). Bike is 99% finished and just needs a few little things.

This bike is amazingly clean. Virtually a brand new 25 year old bike. His attention to detail is second to none in my opinion. Very excited to be back on a dirt bike. Have been track racing motorcycles for the last 5 years or so.

Gonna try to add a few pics. Lets see how this goes.     couldnt get it to work. If anyone wants to embed it feel free ;)

thanks guys.. I do have a few questions and being unfamiliar with the forum I am having trouble finding what I am looking for.

Need to know Items:

Where can I get a header gasket?

I've had plenty of dirt bikes but not a 500 two stroke.. what do I mix it at?

What two cycle oil are people having the best feedback from?

Thanks for embedding the the pic!

I am sure I will have some questions. Going to pick up another bike tomorrow. A 89 kdx 200 ;)

I'm guessing you're talking about the copper crush gasket that goes in the exhaust port...you can get these at your Kawi dealer.

I'm not sure if this exact part number will fit the 86......so you will want to check with your dealer.

I run at 40:1...and alot of the guys are running that too...as for oil I run Bel-Ray MC1,but there's alot of good oils out there.
You can use the "Search" option at the upper left in the blue Menu bar to help find things/answers you need.

*EDIT*..the part# for the 86 crush gasket is 11009-1253.
