New guy, American in Germany, restoring a 87 kx 250

(1/1)

Ienglish:
Hey all, been riding for close to 20 years now on various bikes. Yes, I am somewhat new to Europe and trying to figure out where to ride. My current bike is an 87/88 KX 250 Frankenstein-bike. I originally got the bike for free back in 2008 from a friend that was moving overseas and couldn't take it. The bike was in a big box in 21 pieces, haha. I had the bike running in 2 nights, minus a seat. But only rode it a few times that year and it's been sitting ever since.

Well, now I have some free time and money, I decided to try and do a ground-up restoration on it. It's becoming a huge undertaken and headache, but it's still fun none the less. I look forward to hanging out and learning some new things from everyone

kxpegger:
Welcome aboard! I don't know what the parts availabilty for your year 250 is but I know 500 factory parts are drying up. Good luck! A lot of good info here!

Ienglish:
I'm finding most of the parts I need on eBay, but there is a Kawasaki shop a few blocks away and they swear they can get all parts here within a few days. Just not looking forward to the day I start the complete engine rebuild.

Hemitkn:
He, whats the conversion rate now a days? lol
Sound like a cool restore. I would luv a 87 KX250 with an 89 front end. Oh and some sic TUF racing orange plastic and seat cover...
