KX250 / KX125 / Lowering a kx250
« Last post by Vinny on July 05, 2024, 04:31:38 AM »
I just purchased a well used kx250f for a great deal, it needs work and attention, but since Im a noob I expect putting it into the ground a few times, so no point on getting anything nice.
I think its 2014 MY.
It is pretty high right now and I would like to lower it so that my legs can comfortably support the weight of the bike without tip-toeing.
I dont care about suspension settings or ride quality, Im just learning how to ride and would not be riding hard for a while anyway.
I wouldnt be doing any jumps just yet.
I know its a bit overkill for a noob, but I believe I can handle it.

So, how can I lower this bike by like 3-4"?
Its seems like 1-2" would not be enough.
Im 5'7".
I reduced the pre-load a bit, which helped, but i dont want to take out too much pre-load.
I removed the seat and will be shaving it down.
What about lowering links?
The fork has large stickers on both sides which prevent me from lowering the clamps more than 1".
I think im gonna take them off so i could lower it a bit more and have it balanced with the rear when i lower that too.
Any advice would be welcome!
Thanks!

KX500 Original / Engine seized from sitting
« Last post by SOHC on May 31, 2024, 08:59:19 PM »
I am back with some 500s this time, I am working on a 1989? 500 that is locked solid, owner sed it was fine but has been sitting, it has an iron cylinder liner and i can see rust and water in the exhaust port, I reckon the liner is sitting too low in the cylinder and the gasket cant do its thing or is it possible coolent is leaking down the side due to a crack or a hole in the alloy jug?
Anyone come across this? I will pull it apart and look further soon, I dont like the cast iron liners in the plated cylinders.

KX500 Original / Re: Connecting Rods (Choice and Why)

Wossner the go , i use wossner on nearly every bike we have and what they do i notice is they improve on stock , like in some areas there slightly thicker where they have breakage on oem stuff , especially around the big end and beam side of things, they might be a smidge heavier but who wants a broken rod and cases.

I didn't find an answer or I need more info / 1987 KX500 flywheel rotor stator options

Does anyone know what kx500 ignition systems will fit. I read all the forums on here related, but didn’t see a solid answer. I’ve read if you change the entire ignition system that you can make one work. What years for the kx500 will work on the 1987? Thanks

KX250 / KX125 / Re: 2015 forks on 94 250
« Last post by KXDINO on December 14, 2023, 03:15:31 PM »
Not sure if the 94 250 has the same bearings size with out looking up the parts sizes as a kx250 05 to 08 250 kx but i do know i fitting kx450 14 clamps on one of my 05 250 with a 19 front forks and wheel and brake set up , and the only mod was to extend the steering lock on the frame, personally im not keen on any of the showa air forks and would get the later showa 49 spring forks or earlier kyb air fork or spring forks. There just easier to get better performance out of and tune.
