In General... / KX 500 wheels
« Last post by SMP396 on March 07, 2025, 04:39:44 AM »
Who has a Direct bolt up replacement for a set of wheels for the 500. I’m trying to eliminate having to buy the hubs, the spokes and the rim separately and build it.
Anyone have a good link or any opinions on what brand to buy.

Some pictures of the Swing arm - with bearings installed might help us see what's going on there.
Also some pictures of the assembly as you are trying to install it--- Like, show what doesn't fit and where.

I believe the swing arm assembly needs to be fitted near Exactly square/parallel with the frame/mounting bolt holes.. slightly crooked and it won't fit.

Hey all,

I bought a '90 KX250 as a project bike to tear down and restore.  It was fully assembled when I got it. I tore it all down, cleaned, replaced anything necessary and am now starting to reassemble. Problem is, I can't get the swingarm back on. It will not fit back between the frame and bracket on the brake side.  The chain side fits fine. For the freaking life of me I can't figure out why.  It's just too tight to fit by 1-2mm.  Again, it was assembled when I got it, so it's clearly user error.  Any ideas??  Thanks in advance!!

At this point I'd get a pike and pry the framerails back apart!

KX250 / KX125 / 1997 KX250 stator
« Last post by B.Gormley on January 07, 2025, 10:17:41 AM »
I bought a KX250 for restoration which seller said was 1998. Turns out its a mixture of parts between 1993 and 1997.
Stator resistance test rsults:
White/ red - White/green      224ohms
Red - Red/Black                    510ohms
White - Red                           no reading.
These are the tests my manual requires.
White/ red - White/green      396-594ohms
Red - Red/Black                    288-432ohms
White - Red                            14-21ohms
If I test White - Ground I get 20ohms.
All coils prove positive for continuity.
Is the manual correct?
Should this stator work?

KX250 / KX125 / 1999 KX250 Carb questions
« Last post by wingrider101+ on December 19, 2024, 12:10:48 PM »
I'm going thru my recently acquired 1999 KX250.

I see nice cross-hatching in the bore looking thru the exhaust port, It starts up easily but has a very low idle.
Previous owner has the Idle screw almost all the way In to try to increase idle rpm.. it will Almost idle.. need to blip the throttle every 30 seconds or so to keep it running..

Tonight I began removing the carb to inspect the jet size and needle setting.
before I even have the carb boot loosened - I notice a broken (Red) wire (chassis harness side of the connector) that goes to the carb fuel solenoid.

If that Solenoid is disconnected (broken wire) is the Idle circuit effected?

Do any of you have an explanation of how the Fuel Solenoid and the Throttle position sensor function on the '99 KX250 ?

In My mid 50's now but my twist wrist thinks I'm still 25.
Been riding and wrenching on my own bikes since my first 1987 KX125 I bought in 1991.
I've owned many brands and sizes, need to maintain all of them.
Just recently bought a '99 KX250 that needs a little love.

I mainly ride the single track trails all over Michigan but I love an intermediate stadium track too.
The last Track I rode was in Northern Ohio, called Zero Gravity.

I'm here for advice/information and to add what knowledge I can , when I can.
