In General... / Swing arm choices for 1999 KX250
« Last post by Xlr8ingmark on May 12, 2025, 03:52:10 PM »
Hi everyone.
I am new to the group.

I enjoy what I see looking around on this site.
I have a question about swing arm selection for a 1999 KX250.
I am putting one together with a KX500.
I desire a sportier looking swing arm.
I will use the stock arm for now.

The bike still being put together.
Front forks next.
Ohlins forks from a 2002 TM250
I have found 2006 KXF Showa w/ 22mm offset fit up great.
Pics shortly as I learn to navigate.

Wondering if a 2003 or arm will fit with the basic narrowingto fit K5.

KX250 / KX125 / 1987 KX250 What Am I Missing?

Hi All,
Sorry, somehow this landed in 'Introductions'.Can the moderator please help delete that one?

My '87 KX250 is hurting my brain. I bought it in a pretty sad state, rebuilt the top end, bought a knock-off carb (old one was toast, oem's on eBay were no better, at that time), replaced the petcock, replaced the stator, ECU...After quite a while, a few days ago, it finally kicked over and ran, sounded good, responded to the throttle, but I had to go, so I killed it. It never started again.
There are some oil droppings from the exhaust manifold, but nothing scary. Could an old reed cause so much trouble? It seems ok to me. I have a decent spark, it was getting fuel, so I am thinking it may not be that.
I was really thinking I could go out the next day and start it, but now I'm kinda bummed. What gives?

What's the most epic video you have of your Kawasaki KX in action?

KX250 / KX125 / 1994 KX 250 Forks
« Last post by Bsemmens137 on April 26, 2025, 02:05:07 PM »
Hello All,

I am currently doing a full rebuild of a 1994 kx250. I currently did a full frame strip and rebuild. I am slowly “modernizing” the bike. I am wondering if anyone here has done a fork conversion from a newer year KX. I did the ChatGPT thing and it told me I could put 2012 kx250 forks on the bike. I’m just curious on how I would put newer forks on and what steps I should take in doing so.

Thank you

KX500 Original / 83 KX500

Have a new restore to try and do but think its going to really be a tough one. Previous owner let the frame and all the engine parts sit out in the weather for the past ten years. Should I even bother? Not even sure I can split the cases. Everything is corroded and the bottom end has dirt leaves packed around the rod.

Sorry to bother you. I just bought an 83 KX500 in a box. I mean a box of parts, the complete bike! The frame has the front and rear wheels, shock.  I just registered to this site and I can't figure out how to post anything. I want to show pictures and get good reliable information for this restoration task I am fixing to endure hopefully.
Thanks

KX250 / KX125 / Re: 1999 KX250 Carb questions

Hey man, that solenoid will definitely affect how the bike idles. Had my solenoid pull out a few times while riding and you definitely notice it.
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
The TPS is mounted on the carburetor and detects the throttle opening angle.
It sends signals to the CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) unit to adjust ignition timing based on throttle position.
At lower RPMs or partial throttle, the ignition timing is slightly retarded for smoother power delivery.
At higher RPMs or wide-open throttle, the CDI advances the timing to optimize combustion for more power.
Fuel Solenoid
The fuel solenoid is electronically controlled and works with the TPS.
It adjusts the fuel mixture, particularly at low throttle openings, to improve throttle response and efficiency.
It helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions by leaning out the mixture when needed.

Can you post pictures of the stator? I've got experience with ignition on these bikes and the stators are really specific to the bike.

This guy makes great videos explaining ignition related to stators and flywheels, specifically on these Kawasaki's.
