Introductions / New purchase
« Last post by sno335 on May 23, 2025, 12:03:42 PM »
My son now in his 40s  just bought a rough 1983 kx80 for his son who is 14.
My son had an 80 when he was young and wanted his son to have a proper 2 stroke.
I helped him with his bike back in the 90s and now will help my grandson to have an iconic machine hopefully.
So essentially the engine runs, sounds ok,but with no chain unable to ride it.
The exhaust is the wrong one, but it fits the head ok so we'll make up mountings to suit.
Semolina in the gearbox, the water pump seal totally trashed.
So seal and gasket ordered. The impeller thread is stripped so will either put it in with JBWeld or drill out the middle and fit with a new bolt.
The clutch cable stop is damaged so we dremelled the broken hole deeper and secured it with a zip tie through a small hole drilled in the casting.
The rear wheel is the wrong one with a slot to locate in the swingarm instead of the torque arm,so some work needed there.Missing the chain adjusters too, but 2nd hand ones ordered on eBay.
Looking forward to a test run in a couple of weeks

I fitted a whole front end off kx450 20 model on my kx250 2001 -500 hybred bolted straight up ,the wheel and brake assembly, had to mod the clamp stoppers no big deal the 94 might share the same head bearings , check parts diagrams for sizes , the 49mm showas would work better then a set of 2012 250 f forks. ,

Introductions / 1993 kx250 2 different frames made for this year
« Last post by joeythegun on May 19, 2025, 01:56:32 AM »
Hi I am new to this site I don’t understand how to post just yet, I have a 1993 KX 250 that I was restoring, in the meantime I found online a 1993 KX 250 frame that was street legal so I purchased it, Checking the title and Vin making sure it’s at 1993 KX 250 I purchased it, when I went to put the engine in the mounts were different there are two different Vin numbers, after a little research I found there is an aluminum Premier frame and there is a steel perimeter frame but cannot find any difference in the pictures of these bikes, I did not know they even made a different frame, I have no idea with the F bike would look like, but my engine definitely does not fit in the Vin number shown that I added at the -F at the end of the vin to show the difference, I searched both bins on the kawasaki website and they both come up 1993 KX 250, can anyone please help thanks Joe 856-906-3013   Please see the Vin numbers attached JKAKXMJ17PA007920-J,
