Somebody else posted that Woody Kyle hybrid. It's cool but the one I rode - Rocket Science bike - got twitchy at speed in my desert race. 100+ MPH I don't need any twitching

Heres one somebody else built. This one is in a real 250 frame.
The picture is off that supermotard site that Ulves posted a link to.

It's not a cool head. It is a custom head that removes the rear mounting tab so that the gastank will go back on the bike.

Yeah I could see where that might be a problem... My YZ490 gets a little twitchy when I hit 130+ MPH (LOL)

Just kidding...

I like the new frames and all the cool after market parts you can get from them but I agree with you on keeping the stock KX500 frame and motor together. It seems you would be opening a whole new can of worms.

So guys... I'm going to ride Alan's KX500 next weekend and if I like it as much as I think I will. I will plan on buying one here soon... any news on the last year model yet?

I know every year I look for them to drop her... and I've heard that Kaw filed chapter 11?

I do want to buy a new KX500 before they drop them and I know the clock is ticking on me.

David.

Thats the wind wash from being towed behind a KX500 at that speed

Generally manufacturers start lowering prices a year or two before they drop a production line, this years KX500 has alower price than last years. Atlleast here in Arizona so I would imagine that 2004 is it, OR maybe 2005 so they have time to get the 450 thumper out and tested.

Take that for what its worth though, it is only my speculation.

Kaw was about to file Chapter 11, but Suzuki purchased them out.. They will stay Kawasaki.. But, Suzuki now owns Kawasaki.. That is why alot of new bikes are actually Kawasaki's and Suzuki's mixed. (eg. RM85) ect. ect.

Thanks for the info... thats good to know and I like both companies so I'm glad to hear that.

I hadnt went to look at the 2003 KX500 yet but I have a picture. Can anyone tell me if the tank is black plastic or is it just painted that way?

If so is the whole tank painted or is the graphics just stickers.

What I'm getting at... The one thing I hate about my YZ490 is the white tank and having to drain the gas after every ride. If I dont the tank turns yellow from the oil and I cant keep the logo sticker on the tank.

Will I need to do the same on a new KX500? and if I dont will I have the same problems?

Thanks,
David.

The tank is black plastic and the stickers are still on my stock 2001 tank so I would imagine the will be ok on the '03

So do you drain your gas after each ride?

Thanks,
D.
