I have a 1988 KX250 and want to change the clutch cover to the newer style so the coolant does not flow through the clutch cover but through the water pump. Will the clutch cover off of a 1992 or newer work on the 1988 engine? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i doubt it. what difference would it make anyways?

I think the one mine has a crack in it. I has replaced the water pump seal, but i am getting antifreeze in my oil. the newer clutch cover does not have the water tube going to the water pump in the case, it is directly in the water pump housing.

here is a cheap 88 one on ebay

i have an extra clutch cover that has a weld on it but you must put sealant on the gasket or it will leak BAD

where was the crack that you had to have welded? was it in the coolant passage area?
