Alex, I'd definitely be quite interested in one of these covers.
Please "get around to it" soon. :-D

same here please , i am sure iv seen one on some ones 500 online ... maybe i havnt .

Nobody makes a 2 pc cover for the KX500, they are totally unnecessary for your average used KX500 (unlike a heavily raced 125 or 250). However if you do some searching under KX500 guru member "doordie" you will find some posts on his custom made 2 pc cover setup, it was very cool...

I like doordie's 2 piece cover with transparent window, cool! here's mine
-
not mine, but here's a good looking cover....

I'm just about positive that the Team Green MX race bikes came with a factory magnesium 2 pc clutch cover, but they don't call it "unobtanium" for nothing.... :-( Motorrad is the factory race engine guru he might chime in with the hard facts...
-
My Team Green KX500 didn't have the two piece clutch cover when I got it, but here is a picture of the one Team Green fabricated for Destry Abbott's bike. Like like it's an OEM part!

omg that af is f-ing amazing! im just wondering what the second lever on the left side is for
-
Remote compression release???? I would say.

Very interesting, looks like he had the same issue I had when I first made mine, brake hits the cover as well as the return spring. Note where the return spring is on mine, that seems to be a popular mod now. As Polar said there really isn't much of a need to have one unless your are using it in competition. If you maintain your 500 properly and use quality parts they rarely fail.
-
pretty sure that other lever is the rear brake
-
^^^ LOL :-D
anyway .. any one tell me where i can get a nice looking new clutch casing please ... 2 part or one part i dont really mind ..
-
"the left hand levers are, rear brake, notice no rear brake pedal or mounts, little one with blue colour cable is decomp, and the little one on top of the reservoir is the clutch overide as it is fitted with a rekluse"
-
mine supposedly comes from a Dave Thorpe bike, although i know little about it. any info would be greatly appreciated btw! here is the other side
-
I have a nice spare clutch casing I was going to cop up to make a 2 piece out of. I'd sell it.
-
I was looking for a spare to scan into the auto cad program to start with. I was going to make the outer cover a kx 450 cover since there are a lot of after market options and it would take a common gasket instead of a special one. Let me know if you would like to part with it and how much. Or possible trade for something you might need.

This is a great idea Alex! Using a factory casting for the cover is the right way to go. :-D

Excellent point Don. This has also been my experience.
Unfortunately, the 95 I just bought has a badly broken clutch cover that has been repaired with JB weld.
Before I buy a new factory sidecover, I'd love to see what kind of magic Alex can manage with a 2-piece cover.

found this surfing around. no idea whos bike it is
