Title: rear spring
Post by: littlewing78 on July 20, 2011, 02:32:24 PM
Is there any way to tell what weight my rear shock is rated for?  I have a 99 KX 500 and I weigh 230 lbs.  I get bounced all over the place on that thing.  I am pretty sure I need a heavier shock but I'd like to know what is on there now.  Thanks.

Probably won't be able to unless it's a stamped non-stock spring.  I would just find out the correct rate for your weight and get it.  Of course the shock should be serviced if it's never been done...may have other issues.  At 230, you'd need a heavier rate than stock if you ride somewhat aggressively.
