Title: Intake boot needed.
Post by: bturton on July 01, 2011, 02:05:03 PM
Here is a quick one.
The intake boot on my '01KX5 looks like it is at least 10 years old.
Wait-It IS 10 years old!
No wonder it is all cracked. What should a guy to for a replacement? Stocker??
I think I want to replace the reed valves at the same time. What is the consensus on reeds for a MX bike?

Thanks guys...

V-force 2 on the reeds. KAW RIDER makes intake boots & does a nice looking v force reed clone that looks alot better than the vforce 3, be prepaired to wait though. Custom one off stuff does take more time though.
Stock reed boots are about $65 at cheapcycleparts.com if I remmeber right.

OK, I have had a look around for these V Force 2 reeds....
All I can find is the V Force 3. Are they the same only better?  :?

Not as good as they vf2's, still better than most others though, my oppinion.  They rub & heat warp in the motor without a reed spacer to keep them from rubbing.  Heres a link to another post with some more info

Motorrad has a post somewhere on how to get the vf3's fit right, but I cant find it
