Which is the best brand and weight for my kx 500. It's a new service bike and want to start break in with the best fluids. I know of no better place on the planet to ask this question. Thanks guys!

Not gonna debate it, but here is my opinion and you can take it or leave it. Get a good quality oil from your local dealer that is designed for your bike. My local shop just happens to be big on Bel-Ray, so I run their Gear Saver either 80w or 85w. Although from the factory they came with the Kawasaki 10w40 or 10w30.

The best possible way I can think of to break in your new, pretty, fresh Af 500 is to bring it to me and I will take care of it for you so you don't need to worry
about such details :-D I am a helper!!!

Gear oil and motor oil viscosity are rated differant. Don't get the two confused.. If memory serves 10-40 is the same as 80/90wt...10-30 same as 80Wt. (all things warmed up and equal)
Roostdaddy is correct. Stay away from ATF. Once again my oppinion..

Thanks Guys, I had read the post on ATF earlier, my conclusion on that is that If it was better the factory would recommend it. They build the trannies so seems like they would know a little about them, IMO. Just wanted to see what you guys were running successfully. I am Running Bell Ray Gear Saver in my 04. That's what the guy that owned the bike before me was putting in it. Haven't really put a ton of time on it so can't really tell anything about longevity. I run motorex in my 4T, obviously a different beast. Bel Ray 80wt it is. Thank you Guys

I started using Bel Ray Gearsaver in my 99 KX 500, got a killer deal on a few cases of Maxima MTL 80Wt about 5 years ago or so, I've been with MTL since and everything is fine.

I run ATF and have always done.. 8-)

i used the belray 80wt today at the track. good smooth shifting :-D
