More info would help

Could be many things
Low on nitro
Low on oil
Needs more preload
Your too fat for the current settings

Easy fix. Ride the KX :-D

Seriously though it sounds like it needs rebuilt. They do wear out just like everything else. Make sure the nuts are tight on the spring and the spring isn't broke. If everything looks good then I'd just rebuild it.

had similar prob with mine...there was dampening...just not right....it wasnt leaking either
turned out to be a torn bladder in the shock resivoir.   i guess after 10yrs it was time to replace.
may not be your problem but something to look into.
either way a rebuild is probably in order. fresh oil, nitrogen charge and a complete shock head and seal assembly

i had a look at the shock yesterday and there is a ring of oil on the shock shaft , so that means it has leaked out, and the rubber bumper is all torn to shreds. by looking at the rest of the bike i could see why the shock is bad. so i will get it rebuilt
