got my 92kx250 running today after full bottom end rebuild :-D bit of a blackpit of a bike but its a nice thought going over everything yourself. basically replaced every bearing/seal, new power valve parts, dropped in a hotrods crank, and a bunch of other odds and ends. I wanted to go with a oem crank but couldnt bring myself to cough out the extra dough, hopefully it wont come back to bight me.
next ill move my attention to getting my shocks setup properly
here it is before i had my way with it

very nice

nice build, is the boysen carb manifold on he right way looks upside down. :-D
-
ty :-D
i think the upside down reed valve was the consequence of waking up to early out of excitement...
the bike is defiantly running lean on the topend now, im thinking the power valves wernt working properly at all before. going to try moving the clip and see if it helps, may have to get a jet kit? either way im sure there is power to be unleashed 8-)

had a chance to put some decent hours on it and it ran smoothly. only concern is it seems to fall flat on the topend. would a silencer packed to tight cause this? where should i start to look?

whats all that smuck in the crankcase in the 7th picture?
Kips timed correctly, and pulling out all the way would be the first place I would look if its falling down on top end..
that and jetting / float hight
not exactly in that order..

im assuming its some kind of gasket adhesive that was applied to the cylinder base. figured it wasnt worth my time removing, it was caked on there pretty good
ill have a look over the kips, defiantly would be a easy fix if that was the case. either way i think ill defiantly play around more with the carb. trying to get my head around tuning as best i can

Check the simple stuff first. Are you getting wot? Check throttle tube and cam, cable, and slide for proper function.I would suspect it is jetting. Start with one size up on the main jet, if it gets better go one more until it sings off early. If one size up makes it worse try one size down. Just do one thing at a time and write it all down. Play with it for a wile, if you still can't get it check the pv.
Good luck.

Are those new plastics in the second pic? If not could you tell me how they went from crap to good! if theirs a good trick to fixing em up I would like to know :-D
-
I would only be guessing but I say he painted it.
-
they are new ufo plastics . I tried painting the old ones but it didnt work out, it just scraps and chips off. I remember seeing a product that takes scratches and scuffs out, you just rub it on, cant remember what its called though
