Just wanted to say what a great source of info that this site provides. Just wanted to tell you all a little bit about my project.I have a 89 500 that is being built into a street legal motard retard (i call it retard because it is one step beyond a motard) First thing that I did was purchase a complete 2003 Suziki gsxr 1100 front end minus fairings of course, and adapted this to the kx(the gsxr is a state of the art front end)then I tossed the original shock and put on the gsxr four way ajustable rear shock which lowered the back to match the front.Next dumped the whole air box unit, and installed K&N cone filter(for that dirt tracker look. Then I mounted a enduro style fairing from eline with their lighting kit.Next I put on the 93 kx 250 rear fender, and below that instaled a carbon fiber tire hugger fender then mounted a nice big fat soft rear tire. Almost forgot still useing the gsxr clip ons for handle bars. currently talking to B&B about their 600 plus cc big bore. this thing is going to be a blast and a real corner burner. If anyone culd tell me the top speed that a big bore kx with the right gearing is capable of would be great. I fitted everthing up and then tore every thing down again and sent the motor out, and then the frame and swing arm for powder coating.Cant wait to ride this thing  . You guys probally think im a raging lunitic.

there's a road racer out here that goes 120 mph.. the crotch rockets catch him in the corners ,but the k-5 leaves them on the straights. It's stock with a pipe, reeds and jetting. It's a small tight road course.

If you go to 600cc you will loose rpm at the top,but you will have everything at the bottom with 600cc 14/42 about 100 mph, stock and 14/42 110-115 mph.We have done with stock and port.cyl. bigbore carb. to 41mm,v-forcereeds, 14/42 topspeed 120 mp, 15/42 130mph.
There will always be problem with 600 cc becuse you have to modified the crankhouse and to big pressure on crankshaft and bearing.

Sorry guys no pics yet but as soon as it comes back from powder coat and I start puttin her back together I will send out pics.SO it sounds like from what Im hearing I dont want to over bore(not even to 520 or 540)? That will destroy my top end? I thought the more HP = More Speed. And a quick Question who is the best on bottom ends (NOW GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF THE GUTTER) what I mean is the lower case, and what should I have done to it. Later

Falicon cranks in Florida or Crankworks. I just know these names, I haven't used either. Post pics of the rebuild. It's great to see a birth of a monster!
