Hi guys,
I've got an 84 / 86 KX 500 that I'm busy rebuilding. I want to restore to the original state, but I'm struggling to find the original colours and decals. The previous owner removed the stickers and sprayed the frame blue, which I don't like but I don't know what it's supposed to be.
The Kawasaki dealer told me it's supposed to be green, but I have a suspicion it's a works replica. I think this because it's rear brake is a drum (According to Kawasaki.com parts diagram, that makes it an 84) but it has the rear fender, side covers, air cleaner, radiators etc of an 86 (According to the Kawasaki.com parts diagram).
Just for info, the engine number is; KHI KX500BE000528 and the chassis number (just under handle bars) is: KX500B-000507
BTW, I'm in South Africa and these bikes are VERY rare here.
Here she is:

Note how old and busted it is, also the "custom exhaust".
Thanks in advance.

Now I know, the frame was silverrrrr......

The 1985 KX500 used the following engine ID numbers: kx500BE000001-001800
So, the engine is a 1985.
I don't have non USA frame numbers.
I have some of this info here:
