Title: bow in reed stop V-3
Post by: kaw rider on February 22, 2011, 07:19:41 PM
Look at this bow in these K5 v-force reed stops. Just freshen up this topend for a customer and his reeds were trash and chipped bad and lifted. FYI replace your reeds every 10-15 hours.

Now if somebody can tell me why there a bow in the middle of the reed stopper. :-D

Over torqued reed block to head?

perhaps the motor was on the warmish side, enough to maybe make them somewhat pliable, and the petals that are in that area carry the majority of the velocity allowing the petals to put pressure on the stop. this person isn't a desert racer by chance or maybe cross country rider?

He is a duner and the topend got real hot because he was running at 100:1 with 927.

You hit right on the head.

i run 50:1. no problems and no pipe sludge. gotta run quality oil too. not to start an oil thread here, but there are many quality oils out there. do not run cheap marine oil or other cheap crap. expensive oil is money well spent.

not to get off the original thread, but, oils are a preference, almost like ford, chevy, and dodge. Price doesn't make a good oil, i think as long as it is rated TCWIII your golden.

Kaw Rider... was the bike spitting coolant?  just sat and run up and down the main hill all day?    Head warped?     Neet burn marks/coloration on the piston we would like to see?
