Very nice! Is that a 1990 YZ? Looks like a Donnie Schmit Bike!

Its an 1989 with an original like new 1990 seat. Spent all summer restoring this bike only to now not want to spoil it by riding it.

Shame I cant have it in the house!!

Did you upgrade the forks?  My '89 doesn't have inverted forks.

1989 here in the States was the first year of the inverted forks for the YZ250. Had an 88 with the conventionals & my buddy bought a new 89 model (I liked the conventionals better). I think (?) the 90 models came with the Red Stanchion Tubes.

UK model had inverted forks from 1989. A lot of people buy the 46mm conventionals from the US as they are better.

Thanks mate. The Yam has never been ridden. I restored it for Farleigh Castle 2011 but went to far and now I cant bring myself to get her dirty. So I got the KX500 and have nearly gone as far but I left the frame with some boot marks so I will be riding that one.

I have not ridden either as of yet but intend to do selected Evo events as I ride modern due to my boy being on an 85cc

Its so addictive though. I want to do another......maybe a 125 to complete the set.

Nice bike! I have a -89 as well. Do any one know why some bikes seem to have blue side panels as original?
