Title: KX 500af Kickstarter issue
Post by: jholt on January 19, 2011, 03:27:05 PM
Alright for all of you out there have done this project, I am getting to the point I almost done and I just realized that when you push the kick start down it hits frame pretty bad were the swingarm bolt goes through. How have you other guys fixed this or do you just short kick it?

Any help would be great

Thanks

I've seen some pics on here somewhere how they grind the frame down around near where the bolt goes through....you can ask jfab. i know he has a good pic of it...

I and most others as well as the service Honda kx500AF ground the frame where the kickstarter hits it just enough to clear.

I guess no one has seen any strength issues with doing that? And thanks guys for the responses I kinda figured that is what I had to do and after closer looking at the service honda bike I can see it on their frames were they did it.

Just trim down whats needed on the frame and crank it over, Shaving down the aluminum needed for clearance wont affect the strength of the frame its such a little amount
