I predict Ryan Dungey,,, but will be rooting for Vilopoto if he's back. In the Lights I'm rooting for our homeboy from Rupert, ID Jake Weimer.
Title: Re: Anahiem 1, 2011

Dungey obviously has the target (no pun intended) on his back & looks good on his Suzi, but hoping everyone will be healthy to make it an interesting season.

Villopoto: Can he settle for a second if it means championship points? Dungey can

Stewart: Obviously ?????????

Canard: He looked good on the Red 450 last year but not quite up to the speed Dungey was

Metcalf: He is my Dark Horse pick looked good on the new yellow bike.

Short: He will finish top 5 as always no matter who is or ISNT there.

Grant,Millsaps: I would not offer them a ride.

Pourcel: Now that's my unknown, butter smooth style (like JMB) that would suit a 450 the best of all but don't know if he even has a ride or with whom.

good reviw Doug, Aren't you gonna comment on Reed?

IMO K-dub is the new Larocco, will race longer than most inside the top10 and even grab a podium or two.
Bubba and RV will be balls-out to prove what the wanted to last year.
Canard, this kid is going to be a contender (period)
Dungey, impressed me last year and I hope he does it again because defending a championship is always harder.

And here it is, Reed can be a front runner IF he gets the training and testing up to par with the rest of the field w/o any excuses.  As McGrath stated, its alot harded running your own team especially when the factories arent arm/arm with you.

All good/valid points.  I'd love to see Bubba come back and destroy the field as always though.  Can't wait for the season to start....
Title: Re: Anahiem 1, 2011

Bubba is exciting to watch when he is "rubber side down"......eventually he will mature and hone his amazing skills and be successful no matter what team he rides for. maybe this year ???
K-dub is a motocross Icon now no matter what he places. a tru champion in my eyes and representing us old "fast guys"
The rest of the field is very talented and anything can happen.....its what makes racing unpredictable and exciting to watch.
Reed is a Fu@K!%G crybaby.....and is lucky Charmichael isnt around to countinualy school him....

I've yet to see anyone match the raw speed of JS7. He's my pick!
Dungey has his work cut out this year, He is the man to beat for sure, but the class is stacked again this year.
Reed on a honda, he never looked good on a Kawi, hopefully the CR is a better fit.
Short on the KTM 350 will be exciting.
Villipoto healthy, and hungry is always something to see.
Canard is fast on a 450, but I dont think he can hang it out all season and stay healthy.
Metcalf truly found himself outdoors, I think if he stays healthy he will be a contender.
Justin Brayton impressed me last year with some great results too.
Alessi is an unkown at this point, seems like a broken man....
Tommy Hahn is coming up fast too...
the 250 boys will be fun to watch too, God I love supercross

Looks like we are all on the same page.  For sure the "Reed is a Fu@K!%G crybaby.....and is lucky Carmichael isn't around to continually school him....".  I am a Reed fan though.  You can put Bubba in the crybaby/tantrum column also.  No love lost between them.
Canard is our "home town boy".  Right here from central Oklahoma.
I can't make Anaheim but I do catch the tour in Dallas.  Last year was a first in the New Texas Stadium.  It was unreal, it was also the first time for me to see the "Death Star" as my friend from Dallas calls it.
Until then I will have to settle for........................................................

RoostDaddy, Doldguy and Suicyde pretty much called that one.

Normally I have a few cocktails on Saturday nights (O.K.- the other six nights too) but stuck to drinking coffee to be sure I stayed awake for the A1 showdown.

Glad to see PoPo bounce back in grand fashion!

Payton's team rode great. Green all over the box.

DoldGuy nailed it. Good race, RV was stuck to Stewart in tel he washed the front in the same spot as JS7 did in heat 2. I guess you have to go slow to go fast some times. I'm looking forward to going to round 4 in Oakland.

A wheel speed sensor on a bike using computer controled fuel and ignition sure smells like traction control. :-o Can you say HOLESHOT?

Title: Re: Anahiem 1, 2011

He sure didn't deny traction control when asked straight up by Erin Bates.

Ya that was kinda funny..

For sure it was a speed sensor, so TRAC control must be what it was for. Or ABS...
Title: Re: Anahiem 1, 2011
Post by: kaw rider on January 16, 2011, 11:20:34 AM
I don't think they would take a chance on traction control. You can do alot with reading wheel speed when down loading with a data logger.

Hey Doldguy - that prediction stuff is just creepy....lol
Villipoto is very deserving of his position right now, reminds me of a young Charmichael climbing the ranks and proving his worth. James seems more calm and mature so far this season, but is it keeping him from unleashing the raw speed we all know he posesses ? No room for error anywhere for anybody. Dungey, Canard and Reed are gonna be knocking on the door while Bubba is searching for perfect balance.
I love this stuff, its better than suspense thriller for me.

#2 Villopoto! He is going all....the...way! That 2011 KX450F  is looking hot. I think we're better off with only Poto racing for Monster Kawasaki. Did anyone notice Monster Kawasaki is using FMF systems this year, I have checked it out with the lites, but Poto's bike has an FMF this year. I just got the Thor gear he wore at Anaheim 1! The Volcom Thor gear, it is tight, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC has it for a pretty good price! Tell me how you think the SX points are going to end up this year. I'm interested in your thoughts! :|

I'm sick of Stewarts attitude, and I've never been a Dungey fan. My money is on Villopoto, Cannard, and Windham. Keving usually podiums enough throught out the season to make top 3 or 4. PLUS last years SX in Salt Lake goes to show that Windham races because he loves it and no other reason!

This CBS handoff in the season is bs,,,Speed won't advertise for CBS so if you think it's going to record on Speed,,, you will miss it,,, unless you remeber to check ahead. CBS may have access to a larger audience,,, but it makes for confusion trying to find it,,, if you watch regular. I wonder if complaints from fans would help keep it on Speed live the night of.

If you've never been to the new Dallas Cowboy's stadium your missing out.  It's unreal to watch SX there. I went last year.  I don't know how much beer costs but Crown and coke was $12 bucks a pop.
I took a bag of trail mix to stay out of the food lines.  Everything is very expensive, Jerry's gotta pay for that dome some how.
That thing is so massive and modern they offer guided tours during the week.

I just watched the race on Speed that CBS did not show here, Emig & Crew even had the CBS Sports logo on their shirts. Many Thanks to Speed for not letting that keep them from showing the race  :-D

It was the best race so far. Lots of good racing & clean passing with out taking some one out unlike Lil Hannie in the lights class, a new Hannie? I dont think so, I applaud Jake Canada for giving some of it back to him but Josh obviously can give it out but cant take it. On the podium Stewart was NOT happy with the way things turned out & think he will show how this in Oakland tonight, so my picks for the Oakland race will be Stewart, Villopoto, with Canard & Dungey fighting for the final spot on the box with Dungey barely beating him.

I enjoyed watching the Lites class as there were some positions swapping, the big bike class was a little bit of a snoozer. I think the racing will be much better once they get to some tracks with good soil/traction as it seems that the fast guys are not able to show their true speed yet on these hard packed / one line tracks.

Danger your hometown boy is looking real good & once he gets a half way decent start I think he is going to really push whoever may be in front of him.

To everyone I know im jumping in this kinda late, but ok ill give it up to Stawart. I hope he gets his at some point in the season, because thats all hear at work is about how good he is and he's the greatest...lets not forget about Villapoto the dude has skills. thats my pick and always will be.Lets NOT FORGET what he rides. Josh Hanson has put in the work in the last year from what there saying and do think that he will pull it off, but the young KTM rider has some nuts...you have to give it to him. My sleeper is Brock Tickle. For Reed hes rideing to put his TWOTWO company on the map, but the dude needs to give it up, I think he might see the podium mybe a few more times and thats all 3rd place. Well go TEAM GREEN see everyone in INDY for the races....lets meet up for a beer!!!

What happened to Christophe Pourcel?  He was suppose to move up to the 450's and be the new hot rider.  I went to his official site but it's in French.  http://www.christophepourcel.fr/  It shows last years schedule and it shows AMA SuperCross 2011 with one word...Bientot...
Translates to:
1.shortly

2.soon

3.in the near future

4.almost

5.presently

6.sometime

7.speedily

8.before long

And Dungey, WHAT HAPPENED?  Had to  be a rock or some kind of debris into the chain near one of the sprockets.  It's that or might be it's a Suzuki???  It seemed like he was a flash in the pan when he won the indoor.  The competition was out with injuries.  But then to go on and win the outdoor and both as a rookie, new record.  Now the real competitors are back and he's not doing so well.  He's a class act and not a whiner like some with a 2-2 on their jersey.  And Stewart...if he keeps his pace, one of these races he's going to lap the 2nd place rider.

Pourcel does not have a ride. That I DO NOT UNDERSTAND, lets see Pourcel or Millsaps? Pourcel or Grant? Pourcel or Short? Pourcel or..........? I could go on & on. His style fits the 450s like no other, He reminds me of Jean M Bayle, so effortless, smooth & comes up with lines nobody else sees. I would think he easily would be a top 5 rider & would be pushing certain riders for the win on good nights.

Not only was he winning on a green bike, he wasn't treated well by the press and spectators,  still was on the podium.
I was looking forward to him riding the 450 class and really mixing it up.

I really dont think Dungy will have a chance indoor, but outdoor for some reason he rides great. Alot of the riders outdoor dont have the stamina that Dungy has and for some reason it just looks like its easy for him. I really hope this weekend that Villapodo pulls it together and wins. In my last post I didnt say alot of good about Stewart but I watched last weeks race again and the dude can fly.....lets hope this weeek he dont jump out to a big lead. GO TEAM GREEN!!!!
Title: Re: SX 2011 Schedule/Discussion

I think Dungey is well balanced but overrated...kinda like Chad Reed...James and Villipoto were mising during the Nationals and crashes and  injuries seem to hinder their progress. Seems like paying their dues for these guys.  We all know they have the stamina and speed to grab a title. I think Dungey rode so well because his team was well managed and he didnt have Bubba or Villi applying the pressure. riding under pressure changes everything....  I love supercross but the outdoors is where the men are seperated from the boys IMO...Should be an interesting season with so much talent up there.. can't wait

Where  has A. Short been at the races? He is getting NO EXPOSURE for KTM & I bet now that Roczen will be riding the "Little 350" , Short will be riding his a$$ off to beat him & he will have to if he wants to beat him as this kid is FAST & has BIG BRASS B...S! I love watching him ride, he has talent, he is aggresive but more important he has Heart & he wants it. I can not even remember where Short has finished these races, I will look it up & post, but I know he will be putting out alot more effort while Roczens on the same track.

Title: Re: SX 2011 Schedule/Discussion

Shorts results 10th, 7th, 9th, 9th, 7th & now a 5th with the young kid on the 350. I would say Roczen is good for KTMs results. At Houston 2 Kawasakis, 2 Suzukis, 2 Hondas, 1 Yamaha & 3 KTMs! I am sure that made Sel VERY Happy!

Stewart made a mistake going into the first turn & should have been patient working his way thru traffic but obviously was impatient. I thought he had matured enough to work towards championship points. Villipotto was very impressive with his ride not throwing away valuable points, didn't think he had it in him yet & IMO that is what it is going to take to win the championship.

With the race being so caotic last weekend I am excited to see who is going to be on the podium tonight & after this one they head East where there should be some good dirt & offer multiple lines for even better racing yet!

Atlanta SX on Speed tonight (2/26/11) at 7:30 Eastern time.

Some good ole Georgia Red Clay should offer alot better traction & should see some real good racing. Stewart should win, but something is telling me Green will be on the Top Step.
So my picks are Villopoto, Stewart & then Canard on the final step.

Josh will not be there tonight, just the East Lites like little Stewart, Barcia & Dean Wilson. Speaking of "Lil Hannie" I hope he gets what's coming to him, after that takeout on Cunningham last week I would have driven my truck out there to pay him back! He has everything to lose & Kyle is out of the Championship & with that Punk A$$ move he made it very well could end up costing him the title if Cunningham decides to punt him off the track (Jake Canada Owes him one too) & that is all it would take to hand over the title to our North Carolina local Broc Tickle. He said he has changed but his actions says otherwise, just like when he had a ride with KTM riding dirty & whine when someone gives it back. Makes me laugh thinking what would happen if he tried that on Villopoto (giggle, giggle).
Speaking of which, Wilson owes Barcia some will be interesting. Barcia tried that last year with Pourcel, and the next race Pourcel, very cleanly, ran Barcia completly off the track, Barcia got the message & didn't try that again with him.

Checked the TV listings online but did not find tonights race. My Buddy called & said it is on tonight (03/05/11) live @ 7:30 PM Eastern time.

This should be an AWESOME race as the sand should offer plenty of traction for multiple lines & not just single file racing. I would also like to thank the AMA for moving the Race up a week ( :x) early so I will not be attending it this year & its one of the races I really look forward to.

My Picks for the Night: Stewart, Villo, & Canard & yours are?

Man I got stuck doing a side job today and didnt get home until after the race was on TV. Went to the supercross website and saw the usual unexpected chain of events with the supercross class. But unless im blind not anywhere did i see any mention of the current points leader Ryan V......no DNF no mention of gate start and no placement in the results.....???
can somebody let me in on what happened ? Im rooting for him this season as I feel he's the best man for the job of champion, but there are a few riders behind him in the field that are well within striking distance.

RV got tangled with boni in the rhythm section just off the start, he then went to the lcq and got tangled with brayton on the start, he DNS'd jacksonville. Stewart got cased in the main by goerke, and according to twitter, will be back at toronto.
Title: Re: SX 2011 Schedule/Discussion
Post by: Good on March 22, 2011, 04:14:03 AM
Yeah, it was almost best case for RV with Stewart out of the main.  It surprises me that no one besides Milsaps was tripling into that corner from the tabletops rhythm section.  If Reed would've done that on any of the last couple laps he would've caught Canard and extended the lead in the whoops section.  It was a great race, too bad RV and JS weren't in it.
Title: Re: SX 2011 Schedule/Discussion
Post by: snoopjonnyjon on March 22, 2011, 05:55:13 AM
I think the reason why Reed isn't taking risks like tripling into the corner is because he is an owner/rider. Quite a bit more pressure on him to not crash. If he crashes and is injured, there isn't another team rider. He's not getting a salary. Two Two would be done, the sponsors won't be paying... and what does he do with all his employees?

I think Reed has been riding very smart and safe all season.

I think your right Snoop.
As much as I hate Reed he has shown real poise and patience this season with his new outfit. And as much as I hate to say this i've been impressed with his performance so far this season. Maybe this humbling experience could be the key to his sucess...still rootin' for the red head kid though

I agree, but, 2nd is 2nd and if he has the opportunity to grab 1st, he should do it- for his sponsors.  He already was blowing the other guys away through the woops and with one more quick spot on the track he would've taken first.  I was just saying I thought that one corner was it and it surprised me that no one else picked up on what Milsaps was doing there.  I'd almost bet Stewart would've been doing it- but then he probably would've been on his head anyway so it doesn't matter.  I think Reed coulda done that jump no problem.

I guess during the race you don't have much time to think about things like that, and second is still on the podium, but with VP out, that would've been that much closer in points for Reed.  Woulda, coulda, shoulda, but didn't.  I'm still going for VP also, but with all the haters comments everywhere, I'm starting to root for Stewart.

Its a shame as much as I like Bubba, he reminding me more and more of TP199.  Riding ballsout entirely TOO MUCH.  If he can settle himself and bounce back, he'll be ok.  Reed has to be in shock as to what happened.  Not intentional, but whats the luck of them having Another run-in.  RV, back to being consistant, nothing fancy and waiting for the Championship to come back into his hands.

Canard out for the Supercross Season (sorry Danger) with a broken femur.

Wild Child Roczen wins both motos in MX2.

I hadn't heard about it untill I read your post, not good.

My alliance runs Kawasaki.  This is the order I cheer for.  I want  Villopoto,  anyone on a Kawi,  Canard,  Reed, the old man of SX Kevin Windham, any Honda rider.

Torrance, CA: American Honda announced today that Trey Canard will miss the remaining three rounds of the 2011 Supercross Championship after injuring his leg in a practice crash. Canard and the American Honda Racing team were at Competitive Edge MX Park in Hesperia, CA, making preparations for the upcoming Motocross season when the incident happened.
Trey suffered a non-displaced fracture to his femur when he crashed at a team test,? said American Honda Racing Team Manager, Erik Kehoe. ?The good news is that the fracture is not as severe as it might have been. We are hopeful Trey?s return to racing will come soon. It?s very disappointing to see him get hurt, especially after the fantastic Supercross season he?s having. In his rookie season he?s won three Supercross races and was in the championship points chase with three rounds to go. He will miss the remaining Supercross rounds, so the team will focus on our preparations for the upcoming Motocross series where both Trey and Josh Grant will make their returns to racing.?

that was a good race.

+1,     Only 9 points separate the top 4 in points, it's still Villopotos series to win or lose & I think Utah will show us which one.

Headed off to the stadium now, pits open at 12:30 practice, qualifying at 1:30.

2" of snow this morning, supposed to be cold, in the high 30's. the mormon god hates supercross I guess. last year was a mess, cold as hell, hope this year is a bit better.

any pit pic requests?

DoldGuy

Just needs a fourth place or better for the title & should be easily obtained unless that boy from down under does one of his "Swerve" manuvers he has tried in the past in Vegas.

And concerning Lil Hannie, I am glad to see him lose the Championship that way & by his own doings. Would love to see the local Carolina boy take the title but don't see the agressiveness in him & Tomacs got it.

I am very happy for Ryan Villopoto, he has worked very hard for the title this year. I was also happy to see Broc Tickle make a last minute charge and secure the East lites title. Really bad for Kevin Windam he was riding sooo good, and James what can I say... your money may have bought you out of the fellony you commited in Florida and the AMA may turn a blind eye to it for the sake of your drawing power $$$. But I like to beleive that God is enacting his own collection service that your money can't buy you out of.

Dungey is going to KTM!
RacerXonline stated he was definately going over to KTM! I think this should be interesting as KTM has never really had a top rider for SX or MX in the U.S. Short and Alessi are usually placing in the top 10 but never quite get the job done. Woudn't mind seeing KTM on the podium! Also I believe that fuel injection was one of the things Dungey wanted so even though the 2012's are carb'd I believe KTM will have to produce a half year model that's FI or at least FI for Dungey.
