Is the 250 tank narrower than the 500? If it is, does the pipe limit the width on the right side? Is it worth swapping for moto application?

Here in the states just the 89 KX250 tank is smaller (it's what I use) so long as you don't need the extra fuel I highly recommend using it.

I dont have one, but I believe they are shorter in height. Maybe we can convince Doug to post a pic showing the overall difference. :wink:

I just bought an '88 KX250 tank, got it back home and compared it to the 500, it's same exact tank!

Service honda shows the same part # 51001 gas tank for the 1988 + 1989 KX250 and the 1989-2004 KX500 ... Am I missing something ?

From other threads I've seen, 88 is the same as the k5. 89 is smaller. both will fit
Do a search and you may see some additional info.

As stated earlier the 1989 kx250 is the only one that is smaller (at least here in the USA). I posted pictures here:
