Title: my new ride
Post by: don46 on November 01, 2010, 09:19:39 AM
I haven't had a 250f for a couple of years so along comes the 2011 with all its new gadgets and I decided it was time to get another one. I've rode it once, what I can say is the ride is incredible, it seems like I remember my last one having more power, it could just be my recollection since I've been riding a 450 for the most part the last few years. I also plan on replacing the 09 450 within the next couple of weeks, hopefully the FI calibrator will work on the new ones.

the pictures were taken with my phone so excuse the quality.

Thanks Jonny, I hope it going to be a nice bike, time will tell.

I think at this juncture in my life I wouldn't be without a lathe, this is my second and I must say I use it all the time, Theres a Mill as well but it just doesn't seem to get used like the lathe.

i love machine tools, im a time served machinist/setter just dont have the space to have my own but hope to in the future. back to the bike, i have ridden a few 250fs but being 17st or i was when i rode them, i found them to be a little under powered but very nice, user friendly and a pleasure to ride. i mean they dont drain your energy like the 450s. how long before you offer a 500 up and see how its gona fit lol

I already have a 500 AF, and to be honest I prefer the steel framed 250f framed 500 over the AL framed one, in fact my buddy is going to buy it, I need more room.

your right the 250f's don't have the power of the 450 but in the past they seemed to have more than the 11, the last one I had was an 08. I'm going to get the software for the 250f and play with fuel and timing.

I'm curious for you reasons why you prefer steel over aluminum frames?

In my opinion, I think the 250f steelie feels narrower, and maybe more flickable, mine has an ohlins shock so the back end feels incredible.

I am with you on that Don.
I like my steel framed KXF500 conversion more than my AF500 (cr).   The kx500sf (was a 04250f) is definatly my choice bike!  In fact I have not wanted to ride anything else since I finished it!
