Wow... after almost 3 yrs of not being run... over these last two days I repacked the Silencer and replaced the Front Wheel Bearings (Thanks to the help of my K5 Brethren on KXRiders.com), and mounted a new front inner tube. (Did I ever mention how much I DON'T like changing a front tire?? Grrrr!!)
I still need to replace the steering-stem bearings... but I couldn't wait... I hadn't ridden her since that last ride where I went down and busted the collarbone and got the Bionic treatment some 2.5 yrs ago. (Been busy, my 1st child, emergency remodel of front bathroom, laziness, etc).
Only took like 3 kicks (only one of which was technically a decent kick, dang 30" inseam... Grrr!) and she Growled back to life!
Wow... what a difference a freshly repacked silencer makes on this bike! I can actually hear my own thoughts now, HaHA! Man it was loud before.
PHEW... I'd forgotten just how VICIOUS and BRUTAL she IS!!! LOVE! LOVE!! LOVE IT!!!
Man... just that quick spin around the neighborhood... and WOOO!! The exercise is like doing one big long pull on a seated row machine at the Gym!
Wheelies without clutch are such a beautiful thing! :-D

The "true" brute power of any 500 is somewhat "decieving" as you almost always have less that ideal traction conditions. A top end lasts forever on KX500's, the rear tire lasts about a month...
Once I got my wicked studded KX500 out on the ice for the first time, I literally $hit my pants as to "full potential" traction !!! :-o

YEah... well this was a quick trip around the neighborhood so it was asphalt.... and man.... each gear wanted to claw at the sky! Gotta love the brutality of the K5!
