Title: 450 forks on a 500...is it worth it?
Post by: wayno51 on August 25, 2010, 01:11:56 PM
I'm considering putting 450 forks on the 500. Has anybody been through this...know anyone who has? Comments, input welcome.

I have...

Used 08 kx450f front end.  Emig racing stem.  And made my own steering stop.

Easy as pie

is it worth it?
To me it is. I love the old geometry for desert.  Hate the new stuff for it.  But love the suspension

I havnt ridden it yet with the new forks. Need to get them revalved/sprung.

But the differance to quote BDI "Like atari vs x-box"

That sounds like a hot setup. I like the old geometry as well. Often wondered about same front end too.
Moto, make sure you post results on that please.

I think I'm more excited about new front brakes that may actually stop this thing

lol, I'm so used to 01 brakes that I'd probably launch myself over the bars with new stuff. I ride a  newer 450 occasionaly and don't like the brakes. way too touchy

I'm so used to good brakes on my other stuff that my 1991 kx was spooky
