Has anyone ever done one. Does anyone know what it might take?

Hey Kritter,
I don't recall seeing one, but a little patience, a good welder and a few pints of ale are usually a good start! :-D
Are you able to take some rough measurements of the Zuki & Kx engine ? Maybe if you could take some good photo's and measurements the guys could give you some advice. There are some great fabricators here, and several have taken pics of their builds.

Dooable! now Do it!
it would'nt take any more work than the rest of these conversions.

I have been thinking this would be very cool to do. I think it would be cool to have a yellow KX500 and have graphics made for and all that state it's a kx500. Sort of a yellow factory looking aluminum framed kx500 is what I have been picturing.

I'm not sure, but I thought that the 04-06 rm250 was a steel frame.
-
O ya thats right. Ive been thinking about the 450 myself. I think one of the years that kawasaki and rm were the same would be cool so you could swich between green and yellow plastics.
-
yAH, my 04 kxf250 is the same as the 04-05 rmz250

RM250 or RM250F?

Not with a KX, but have seen a few CR500 conversions into the steel RM250.

RM250 or RM250F?
What is an RM250F??? Suzuki was smart enough not to confuse the two and four stokes, and called the fours RMZ'zzzzs. :-D
Then they got stupid again and reused RMX.

Thanks for all the replys. I don't want another AF I am wanting a SF. Having an AF that could be green or yellow would be cool though. I read in Motocross Action that the 04-06 rm 250 (two stroke) was one of, if not the best handling bike ever built. I had a CR500AFC and just didn't feel like it held up and it's harder for me to find help with welding AL, plus was thinking maybe it would have more space.
ZETTNORCAL you should just give me that bike because it is AWSOME!!!
PowerFiend I have seen cr500 but in just about everything but I don't recall one into an RM 250 frame, do you recall where you saw it? One time I saw a kx 500 in a kx 80 frame on ebay.
Thanks everyone.

There was a build thread on bannedCR500Riders.com I believe(May be an older one), and I have also seen a newer gen one on ebay set up as a hillclimber. With the CR they had issues with the crossbrace over the head being in the way of the plug, but the CR is centered if I remember right.
The RM250 tank is pretty tight around the cylinder so you may have to do a lot of creative molding, especially if you go with a larger than stock tank. Especially around the water outlet on the head.
I like the steel kxf/rmz conversion, but tank size is limited. I like to have 3+gal on the 500's.
I have most of the parts to complete my 03 KX125 conversion including donor 98 250 frame engine cradle, but haven't found the time or welder access to get it done. ...I haven't even been dirt riding in months.
