Post by: FastKX500 on March 23, 2004, 10:44:21 PM
Yea my friend has a 02 yz250 and he thinks he can take me on a drag race, I have a 90 KX500, in perfect shape, thats ported out and I have a power reed valve and a pro circuit platnium pipe with a fmf shorty silencer, would it even be close?

Two words...

no way

Even with the horsepower aside, the MX'er frame on the 250 is going to have him backing out of the power WAY before you will on that 500... something about stability at speed I think  :o

i draged a tricked out banshee very fast, and gave him a head start. when i passed him he was in 6th wide open i was in 4th at half throtle there is no way in hell that a frickin two fiddy could take you. i have even draged a yamaha r6 on pavment  and it was close until my speed maxed at about 110 and he pulled away would have done better if i could have kept the front end on the ground.

If I were you and I had a friend stupid enough to make a suggestion as to his YZ being faster, I would bet money on it. :-) Just to embarrass him and get something out of it. :-)

if it was on dirt and say 400 feet or so,it would be possible.just saw cr 250 run in 500 class on dirt drag and knocked off a lot of 500's.finished 2nd.to much wheeling  and its over.

I sand dragged a CR500 on my KX250 and beat him by about a bike length at 300 ft. but he was gaining.  I think it had more to do with his riding skills.
