Title: 2000 fork swap?
Post by: crazyolbastard on June 24, 2010, 09:12:12 AM
Will somebody tell me if a set of forks off a 2000 kx500 will fit a 1996 kx 500 please?

I can get a set cheaper than the dealer will replace the seals.
I don`t have the know how to do the job myself.
I also do not have all the correct tools.
I`m sure I am lacking the seal driver and don`t know what other tools are involved.

Crazy B,

I believe they have different triple trees on the 96 versus the 2000, other than that everything else should bolt up.

Something to think on: set of seal drivers $60, seal & bushing kit $60, 2 bottles of fork oil $20, 3 hours of your time for the first set & now have the knowledge to do your next set (or your buddies for a case of Sam Adams :-D)
