Hello, I am 38, been riding since I was 8 and have always had a passion for two strokes, preferably models from the 80's since those were bikes I lusted after as a youth but couldn't afford, lol. I live in SW PA, I've had two back surgeries since 2005 (dumb lifting injuries) and now I am a non-traditional EET student.
This winter I picked up a 1988 KX125 "basket case". I completely rebuilt it; bearings, seals, crank, piston, rings, gaskets, clutch, cables, etc. The bike came with all of the engine components new in the box, the previous owner got overwhelmed with the rebuild and sold it to me for $200 parts included. I just had to buy some gaskets, seals, washers, etc. It still needs some "aesthetics" and cleaning but runs great.

Hey Coop,
Great work on the bike! I had both sides of L-4 L-5 rupture in '05 also (must'a just been a bad year!)
and had them cut off the bulges.
I was never fast before... Now I'm really slow!!
Any Way, hang in there Bro.

I've always thought the 88 kx125 was a really neat bike. So much of the appearance is similar to a KX500, except for the lack of a right side radiator.

Thanks folks.
The first surgery was L5-S1, the second was L4-L5-S1. I still ride, but not like I used to haha.
For a 22 year old 125 it runs surprisingly well. I weigh around the 200 mark and have climbed some pretty technical hills with it at the local riding club.

I'm with you on the slow tech singletrack . I realize I have no business out on a bike let alone a kx5.
I just am not ready to give it up.
Best of Luck
