Title: First Ride Of The Season.
Post by: Hman636 on April 25, 2010, 02:07:07 PM
So i finally got my friends together to go out for the first ride of the season. i have a 00 kx 250 and my friend got a 92 k5 that i rebuilt for him over winter. anyways we got a total of 5 riders together and we loaded up the trucks and headed down to the lost trails in pa. trails were dusty as hell and 4 wheelers everywhere. " I HATE 4 wheelers" anyways we hit the trails and we were having a great time. gotta admit the first hour out my arms were as hard as a rock and my hands were completely numb so we took a break at the truck got some water and headed back out. my friend with the k5 this was his first real dirtbike and the rest of us have been riding forever. so the end of the day is starting to come to an end and the rain clouds are moving in with a light sprinkle. i stop in the trail and waited for my brother to catch up to me and we both said lets go back to the truck and pack up then we heard jeremy coming on the old k5 so we waited for him and when he showed up i said lets get back to the truck and head out. i told my brother i was gonna take the "easy out" back to the truck and i was sitting at the truck for about 30 mins and everyone else was at the truck but my brother and my friend. so my other friends son and i grab our bikes and took the trail backwards to where i last saw them and i ended up passing a side by side in the trail with a k5 following and i noticed that was jeremys bike and i stop him and asked is he ok and he said he needs to get to a hospital fast! i find out as im racing him to the hospital that he wanted to take the trail back to the truck and he hit a rock or stump in the trail and threw him off the bike and it came down ontop of him sliding down a hill and he put his right hand up to block the bike and his finger got caught in the brake rotor. it ended cutting the tip of his "ring finger on right hand" off from the edge of the nail completely off. the good news so far was spend about 4.5 hrs in the ER and they stitched it back on but he broke the bone in the finger so they were a little nervous about that.. kinda of a crappy ending to such a nice ride out.. the other good news was all the bikes ran great and no problems with them.

Sounded like a great time. Sorry to hear about your friend. Hope he heals up ok and has a quick recovery. I hate 4 wheelers as well. But they do come in handy when someone gets hurt. Been there a couple times myself.
