Title: K5 Fuel range
Post by: Danger4u2 on April 22, 2010, 02:54:50 AM
Fuel range has limited me from riding my dual sported K5 many times even though I have an IMS 3.6 gal. tank.  I have gone on a few rides by strapping a small 2 gal. gas can to the back fender.  Does not look cool for one. And 2, in the event of an emergency rear dismount I don't want a gas spigot stuck in............. shall we say "My personal exhaust hole".
I have a little KLX250 and I was surfing around on the net and found this, the answer to my fuel problem on the K5.

I use these on my quad, they work great and they are very well made.

I've always thought these were a neat idea. The Acerbis front auxilary tank... 0.8 or 1.3 gallon. Wouldn't work on your dual sport though.

I think that looks good if you do it  please post pics. I added the Acerbis to my 450F, so far I can't find a stator with at least 100w output but plan to figure out a head light setup in front of the Acerbis tank if possible, possibly an LED like one of these      http://www.rigidindustries.com

Man, how cool are you with the Christini.  You never told us about it, have you?  And the ProMoto billet rack on the back.
I bought that rack for my AF500 but Service Honda uses upper mount for the muffler.  I need to remount the muffler to the original mount and get my rack on.  I also have the Acerbis number tank but have not installed it yet.  It looks like you did not use the stock mounts that came with the tank.  Did you manufacture mounts because of the Christini set up?
Thanks for the link to the L.E.D. site. If I had the coin that twin lightbar with the AC brand mount sure looks good.  The $999.99 price tag is a choker.  But if your a professional racer and run at night how can you put a price on having enough light so you won't get hurt?

Hey Danger I missed your post on this thread. To answer your questions I did post a thread about the Christini but you must have missed it.   http://www.kxriders.com/forums/index.php/topic,6940.msg54048.html#msg54048

Checkout the snow roost in the radiator from the front wheel.

The Promoto rack didn't fit exactly because it is for a KLX450, but with some billet I couldn't throw out I made it work. I did buy some small rubberized clamps that worked sweet to hold on the Acerbis tank. The Christini drive under the tank makes it hold around 1.5 gal with the Acerbis I'm up to 3 total. Possibly still not enough therefore the rack to haul more.
