Title: Lower end???
Post by: MX455 on February 19, 2010, 06:48:25 AM
Hi everyone. I got a 87 K5, I went to do a top end on it and I found the lower end is loose and doesn't feel very good. So i'm going to do a ful rebuild. My question is will the 88 rod fit, or do I need to get the 87. I ask this because I can't get an 87 topend, which is fine because the 88 piston will work. But the wrist pin bearings are different. The other question i have is when i have the crank pressed, it needs to be balanced, right? And if so could any mod shop do this or should I send it some where. Thanks again for everyones help with all my questions.

Hughes, what company did you get the rod kit from? Does it include the main bearings and seals as well?
