Title: Couple torque specs needed...
Post by: PowerFiend on January 27, 2010, 07:11:36 AM
Can someone please supply me with a couple torque specs in Newton Meters? I never trust their conversions to ft/lb.

Flywheel nut -
Case bolts -
Drain plug -
Clutch hub nut -
Clutch spring bolts -
Kickstart bolt -

P.S. These would be good additions to the topend rebuild doc/thread.

Well I've looked in my Clymer manul

Flywheel nut -           78nm    58ft.-lb
Case bolts -              26nm    19ft.-lb
Drain plug -               20nm    15ft.-lb
Clutch hub nut -        98nm     72ft.-lb
Clutch spring bolts -   Can't find it. Maybe 26nm/ hand tight(securely) with blue 242 bloctite
Kickstart bolt -          Can't find it. Hand tight(securely) with blue 242 bloctite

Hope it's correct and helps you.

Flywheel Nut: 78 Nm, 58 ft-lbs
Case Bolts: 9.8 Nm, 87 in-lbs
Drain Plug: 20 Nm, 14.5 ft-lbs
Clutch Hub: 98 Nm, 72 ft-lbs
Clutch Spring Bolts: 9.3 Nm, 82 in-lbs

All I can find for the kicker is "Kick Guide Mounting Bolts": 9.8 Nm, 87 in-lbs

Be careful with the clutch spring bolts, mine were very easy to twist off...
I replaced them with standard screws and washers.
By the way, i didn?t add loctite. Is that "officially recommended?
