Title: 96 kx500 fork help
Post by: soarski on January 22, 2010, 05:22:23 PM
I searched but can't seem to find what I need.  I lokked at specs and fiche also but it's not clear to me.

What are the differences between the 96 and 97 KX 500 forks?

I currently own a 04 KDX 200 with conventional forks and have a set of 96 KX 500 USD forks that I want to install.   The triple tree from a 500 is suppose to be a direct fit to my kdx.  I would like to respring these for my weight, change the oil, seals and bushings.  I've never done this and am looking for some direction, maybe a guide or instructions.

I found a video at the link below but it's for 97 KX 500 forks.  Did the forks change from 96 to 97 that this video would be useless for 96 forks?

Also I have a manual for my kdx but not one for a 96 KX 500.  I only need the fork section and not the whole manual.  Can anybody help me with this?  If so PM me.

Soarski,
I am pretty sure that the 96 and 97 forks are identical.  Check out the raceteck site for spring info and PN.  A lot of KTm springs are the same and can be gotten on ebay for cheap. Cam.
