Title: Is there supposed to be a gasket?
Post by: blueoval on December 10, 2009, 02:59:08 PM
Is there supposed to be a gasket between the reed block and the "piece" that connects to the intake side of the carb?    I don't mean between the reed block and the cylinder, I know there is a gasket there.  Please excuse if I don't know the names of all the parts yet.  thx BO

No, just the rubber intake boot to reed cage.

No gasket but I like to use a little sealer there myself.

You know I thought about it and figured I would add that when I say a little sealer I mean a very little. If you look at the back side of the rubber boot there is a built in O-ring. I take a little case sealer on a peice of card board, then I dab my finger in it lightly and then dab it on the O-ring portion of the rubber boot lightly. You do not need to put a great big bead of rtv on it.
