Title: Need Input on Parts
Post by: Watercross on November 24, 2009, 08:46:01 AM
Im new to the KX500's and Just picked up this 88 to turn into a cheap Ice Bike. It was not running and tore down, Im getting everything ready to reassemble after the Cyl gets Bored, I noticed one tooth on my KIPS is broke off, is this problem or nothing to worry about?? all the other teeth look fine?? and the Cyl seems to be missing what looks to be a Bridge in the center of the intake port, is this a common Mod or did it break and someone grind it down. Pics are below

The bridge is fine. The cylinder needs to be replated and not just bored, I'm sure you knew that. The valve needs all its teeth....unlike a good girl friend.  :-D

86-88 is my understanding. Someone on this forum made a set about three weeks ago. Search the forum.

As long as it's not already been blown a few times, and punched to 88mm ... :)

yep it does look badly chipped on the one tooth,on my 88 one tooth is shorter than the rest and when i removed mine i thought it had snapped...until the penny dropped thats how it was supposed to be  anyways mine are not in the best shape either but trying to find a pair that wont cost you numerous limbs  is near impossible.
