That's a cool walk around. He didn't mention the removable clutch cover.
Does anyone know why they used aluminum tanks? JFAB

Thats Eurostyle Jerry :-D
If you want a different size or model tank, and need only 1 or 6 tanks. It's alot easyer to make them from alu.
80'and 90' Grandprixs were long and manny in deep sand, so more need for fuel. In Belgium they needed 4 to 5 liters more than stock. And riders preference would be an isseu.
Or new technolegie, seen rond pipes true the tank from the steering head to the airfilterbox in combo with fented front number plates. MX version of ram air.

That bike look so easy to start. Maybe he had a compression release
-
That engine also had the later (89-04) style cylinder on it. The head looks to have a bolt on hose fitting (early style).89-04 is on the right.
I didnt see a compression release or a kill switch.

Could be Nicoll used less compression to make his bike more rideble. Grandprix races lasted 30 or 35min and 3 races a day, or twice a 45min race. I can only remember Geboers used a compression releas.
It's a true SR, Factory (next) years engine, custom taperd swingarm. I realy like the blue side panels, would like them on mine AF.
In the 80' factory bike were much further than production.
If you watch this video at 40sec, you can see a watercooled RM500 and the createst track in the world!! NAMUR!!!

My 500 starts very easy, but that guy would never get mine started with sandals and that wimpy kick. That looked more like a 125 kick, there has to be a compression release somewhere.

Kick my 86 like that and it would just laugh at you! comp releases are for wussies! :-D
