Title: small to big wheel convertion
Post by: bill on February 23, 2003, 02:01:29 PM
Hi  does any one know what would be required to fit a set of kawa big wheels to a small wheel bike.

Has anyone done this.

I know that the swinging arm is about an inch longer and the front forks are 15mm longer but as far as I can see the wheels will go in ok but I dont know if the back wheel would clear the seat on full bump stop.

I think the chain adjustment would limited but I think I could work round that.

does anyone know if the rear shock is the same on small and big wheel models.

I am in the UK but I think the bikes are the same as the US.

I asked this question of kawasaki UK and got the usuall answere of why not sell and buy a big wheel model but I have put a lot off stuff on this wee bike and my son really likes it .

Thanks
              Bill.

Sounds like you've scouted this conversion well, the problem - my nephew did this - is that the bike never handles well and yeah it bottoms at both ends due to the increase in wheel size. I case you are wondering, my nephew went back to stock wheels ;)

Ahh  thats just the sort of thing you can't work out with a tape measure, how it would handle etc.

Back to the drawing board.

Thanks.

Bill.
