Title: seeping coolant
Post by: utahriding on October 27, 2009, 12:58:50 PM
i had my head and cylinder surfaced(lapped) by the local shop, and got a new athena head gasket(paper with metal ring). i put it all back together and coolant is seeping from back of head/cylinder(bike has not run yet). called the shop and they told me i need to use permatex high tack sealant on gasket.  anyone got any opinions?

i would think two flat surfaces would seal with a gasket. should i find a shop to machine surface the head and cylinder in stead of lapping or try the sealant?
